Why HeadStart
Start earlier than you think.
HeadStart started with a simple question: why do we wait until people have money, careers and responsibilities before teaching them how to make good decisions about them?
After more than 25 years working in financial planning, and through conversations with my daughter as she prepared for university, I became increasingly convinced that we need to start much earlier.
HeadStart was created to help ambitious young people move further, faster: building the practical knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities they need not just to make the most of university, but to prepare for the working life and financial future that follows.
From university through to the early years of a career, HeadStart grows with its members, helping them make better decisions, recognise opportunities and build stronger foundations for the future.
What we believe
- Start earlier than you think. The decisions you make today can shape the opportunities you have tomorrow.
- Your future is earned daily. Small actions, repeated consistently, can take you a very long way.
- Opportunity is rarely advertised. Be curious. Meet people. Ask questions. Put yourself in the room.

What does HeadStart cost?
HeadStart Student costs £6.99 per month. Claiming your Freshers' Week Survival Kit is free, and founding members keep their dashboard, the Reality Check and the student finance course free. Engaged members can also become eligible for consideration for the annual HeadStart Community Scholarship.
How does the £10,000 scholarship actually work?
The HeadStart Community Scholarship is funded directly by My HeadStart Limited: 10% of qualifying membership fees goes into the HeadStart Scholarship Fund, with a minimum of £10,000 made available each Scholarship Year. Members who complete the HeadStart pathway become eligible to apply. It's an opportunity, not an entitlement: applications are assessed on merit against the published Scholarship Fund terms.
Is this financial advice?
No. HeadStart is education and guidance only: we teach you how things work and hand you the tools. We never recommend specific products, and when a question genuinely needs a regulated adviser, we say so.
Who's behind HeadStart?
HeadStart is built with Ningi, the technology company behind financial planning platforms used by UK advice firms. The platform powering your dashboard is the same production infrastructure, not a startup MVP held together with tape.
What happens when I graduate?
Your account graduates with you. HeadStart Graduate picks up as you approach graduation, on the same login and the same record: careers, salaries, workplace benefits, pensions, renting and first homes, right as your financial life gets real.
What do you do with my data?
Your answers personalise your plan and improve the platform. That's it. We never sell your data, marketing is opt-in with one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask for a full export or deletion any time.
